BJP plans legal action against Baghel for ‘Maoist links' comment

Friday, 19 October 2018 | Staff Reporter | Raipur

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly condemned the allegations of Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) President Bhupesh Baghel that BJP leaders had 'links with Maoists' during his recent visit to Kanker.

BJP Member of Parliament Vikram Usendi said that BJP leaders or workers do not have any relationship with Maoists.

“Naxalism has emerged from the policy of Congress which has became an unhealed wound in Chhattisgarh”, he said.

Usendi said “Bhupesh Baghel is unable to restrict himself from stooping low to save his political career due to the internal bickering in Congress party. So he is making efforts to level baseless allegations without any evidence on BJP to save his existence,” he said in a statement.

Usendi pointed out that when issue of urban Naxalites came up in the country, it was the Central leadership of Congress which came in full support, even after all of them were kept in house arrest. Bhupesh Baghel should reply to it and does it not underline the fact that Congress leaders have relationship with Naxalites, said Usendi.

Usendi said that with series allegations being levelled by Bhupesh Baghel on the issue, it has now prompted the BJP to seek legal recourse.
