BJP raps Marandi over cancer hospital remark

Tuesday, 13 November 2018 | PNS | Ranchi

Reacting to JVM chief Babulal Marandi’s press conference, in which he sought transparency in the agreement between State Government and Tata Trusts for setting up of cancer hospital in Ranchi, BJP State spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said that the former Chief Minister does not want that the people of Jharkhand get rid of cancer.

He noted that when the state government took a big step and decided to open a cancer hospital in the state, Marandi is objecting to it.Shahdeo said that Marandi should understand that the State Government has given only 23.5 acres of land for the construction of the cancer hospital. He added that Marandi does raise ridiculous issues while questing that who will construct the Cancer Hospital.

Despite the fact that it is known to all that Tata Group will bear the full cost of the hospital. And 50 per cent of the hospital seats will be reserved for the residents of Jharkhand.

This hospital will be covered under the Ayushmann Bharat Scheme. A total of 57 lakh families will be benefitted from this hospital under this scheme.A six-member committee has been formed under the chairmanship of health minister with Chief Secretary and the Health Secretary as the Member.

The rest three representatives will be from the Tata Group. Without the permission of the state government there will be no change in the law of the hospital.Shahdeo said that Marandi is making sensational talks for playing politics. He said that Tata Group has been providing Rs 25 crore rupees to the state government for health insurance in the last three years. Tata is making payments annually.

He said that Babulal Marandi is trying to woo the attention of people by raising the issue of Tata Lease. He said that there is an old habit of Babulal ji that when nothing is available, then raise the issue of Tata Lease. This whole matter has been clarified after many decisions of the High Court and there is no dispute left in it.

Notably, in a press conference here on Monday, Marandi has raised issue of transparency in the government agreement with Tata citing the Tata lease issue dating back to the year 2005.

He said that according to the agreement TISCO was given land on lease for 30 years and it has to give Rs 150 crore for national Games 2007 infrastructure development.

However, Marandi said that after inquiry it was found that Tata has given only Rs 50 crore as against the terms of Rs 150 crore.

“In another agreement TISCO had to pay Rs 25 crore each year for treatment of BPL families in the State. So, in the last 23 years beginning the year 1996 TISCO had to pay the State government RS 575 crore but it actually gave only RS 75 crore in last three years.

It means RS 600 crore is due with TISCO,” he said.

Marandi said that the government should make it clear whether it has made any secret pact with Tata on the due amount and it is going to make the hospital with the due amount in the name of charity. If it is not the case then the government should make clear statement about the construction expenses, he said adding that the government should also put forth its stand on the due amount.
