Bulandshahr incident unfortunate: RLD

Thursday, 06 December 2018 | PNS | Lucknow

Terming the Bulandshahr incident as unfortunate, Rashtriya Lok Dal state president Masood Ahmad demanded a CBI probe into the sequence of events leading to the violence.

He said the incident was the outcome of misgovernance and irresponsible statement of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

"At the time of assuming power, Yogi boosted the morale of police officers by asking them to gun down criminals and this resulted in the killing of several innocents. On the other hand, the Chief Minister also encouraged workers of Bharatiya Janata Party and its frontal outfits like Hindu Yuva Vahini, Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad, promising action against officers who did not listen to their complaints. This emboldened both the police and workers of the BJP and its frontal outfits and led to numerous showdowns in the past," Masood Ahmad pointed out.

"There have been numerous instances in which the BJP and its allied workers confronted cops and even assaulted them. On some occasions, the workers were assaulted or killed by cops," the RLD state chief explained.

Ahmad said that in the Bulandshahr incident, a BJP sympathiser, Sumit, was also killed besides Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh.

Speaking about the compensation given to the family of the slain police inspector, Ahmad said that no compensation could repay the loss that the family had suffered.

"Similarly the loss to the family of Sumit cannot be compensated by any assistance," he added.

The RLD leader demanded the Chief Minister's resignation.
