CAIT writes to Puri, seeks Ordinance against sealing

Saturday, 22 September 2018 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

A day after the Supreme Court appointed Monitoring Committee directed South and North Municipal Corporations to seal farmhouses and motels which is illegally holding wedding ceremony without having requisite permission and violating laid down MCD and green norms, the Confederation of All India Traders(CAIT) has written to Union Urban Development Minister Hardeep Puri and demanded to bring an Ordinance to protect traders from the sword of sealing.

It has also called for “Trade Bandh” on September 28 to protest against sealing drive being carried out by all three corporations on the direction of the SC— appointing Monitoring Committee.

The CAIT has also called for a one time amnesty scheme which means status quo should be maintained as on 31st December 2017 and violations if any should be condoned by levying certain reasonable charges. The traders’ union has also sent the similar separate communication to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, calling his immediate interference in this matter.

CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal in his communication sent to Puri said that the monitoring committee which has recently issued an orders to seal all farmhouses and motels immediately, will pose a big social problem as thousands of wedding and other functions are already fixed to be solemnised in these farmhouses.

Khandelwal further said that although master plan is amended by the Government about four months back but so far Delhi has got not even a single relief nor any shop has been desealed. It’s about nine months now that large number of shops still remains sealed and traders are not at the verge of starvation, he said.
