Campaigning ends for ULB polls, candidates start door-to-door contact

The clamour of campaigning for the elections of Urban Local Bodies ended at 5 pm on Friday. On the last day of the campaigning, all the political parties and candidates threw their might to attract the attention of voters. 

In Dehradun, chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat took out a road show in support of BJP’ mayoral candidate, Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’. 

The road show was attended by large number of BJP leaders. The BJP’s show was massive in term of attendance and it created traffic snarls.

Not to be left behind, the Aam Aadami Party ( AAP) workers also took out a massive vehicle rally which passed through the major roads of the city.

The AAP’s mayoral candidate Rajni Rawat made a vehement appeal for the voters to vote for a change this time.  She said that both the BJP and Congress have cheated the people and their policies are anti people.

The congress mayoral candidate Dinesh Agarwal visited many areas of the city and sought votes.

Apart from the mayoral candidates, the candidates for the post of councillors in different wards of the city put everything into campaigning on the last day. In all colonies of the city the enthusiastic supporters of these councillor candidates took out rallies to sought support of people.

The ULB elections would be held in seven Municipal Corporations, 39 Municipal Councils and 38 Nagar Panchayats of the state on November 18.

The counting of votes and declaration of the results would be done on November 20.

In these elections a total of 2357840 voters would be eligible to exercise their franchise out of which 1148027 are females and 1209813 males.

 The state election commission has declared 305 polling stations and 569 polling booth sensitive in the 84 ULBs of state where elections are being held.

Similarly 236 polling stations and 533 polling booths have been declared hyper sensitive by the state election commission.

The Uttarakhand police took out a flag march in the city in view of the elections on Friday.

The march passed through the sensitive and hyper sensitive areas of the city.

In the march the police officials appealed people to maintain law and order during the polls.
