Wednesday, 14 November 2018 | PNS | Chandigarh

Amid the ongoing power struggle between the members of the politically influential Chautala clan, Chautala brothers—Ajay and Abhay—will be in Chandigarh on Wednesday to chalk out strategy to strengthen their respective camps.

Both Ajay and Abhay, sons of INLD chief Om Parkash Chautala are scheduled to meet party workers and leaders here.

Ajay Chautala is also likely to meet former Punjab Chief Minister and SAD patron Parkash Singh Badal, who is making efforts to resolve infighting between Chautalas.

Badals and Chautalas have shared close family ties over several decades.

Ajay Chautala had on Monday said that he will be meeting Parkash Singh Badal in Chandigarh. Ajay had said that they will obey whatever direction Badal gives them.

Ahead of INLD’s state executive meeting at Jind on November 17 convened by party’s secretary general Ajay Chautala, his younger brother Abhay has also been holding meetings with senior party leaders and MLAs.

Abhay Chautala, who is Leader of opposition in Haryana Assembly and party’s MLA from Ellenabad had on Friday had held an emergency meeting of MLAs and party’s national and state executive body at Sirsa, apparently in a show of strength amid the turmoil in INLD.

INLD’s patriarch Om Prakash Chautala, Ajay’s father had on November 2 expelled his grandsons Hisar MP Dushyant and Digvijay for indiscipline and spreading disaffection within the party.

Both are the sons of Ajay Chautala, who is pitted against his younger brother Abhay Chautala in the power struggle.

Ajay Chautala had on Monday invited former MPs, MLAs and other office bearers for a meeting in Jind on November 17 and said that the meeting has been convened to sit together and decide the next course of action.

On Tuesday, he visited Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal to meet party leaders and workers and invite them for November 17 meeting. On the other hand, his son Dushyant Chautala held meeting with former Haryana Minister Mange Ram Gupta and INLD workers.

Notably, Dushyant and Digvijay were expelled from the INLD after they were accused of "indiscipline, hooliganism and spreading disaffection" against the party leadership during the birth celebrations of former deputy Prime Minister and INLD founder Chaudhary Devi Lal in Gohana on October 7.
