Expressing grave concern over the alleged rape of a minor by some students of the school, the chairperson of State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) Usha Negi and chairperson of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Kavita Sharma said that stern actions must be taken against the school and the department must ensure that things are monitored seriously.
Venting her anguish over the alleged incident, Negi said, “The incident must ring alarm bells in the schools located across the State. We hope that the grim incident would act as a wake-up call for all. The incident is all the more grim as some minor students are allegedly involved in it. To stop recurrence of such incidents, social audit is an imperative. We will also visit such schools to see the security arrangements made for the students.”
The chairperson of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Kavita Sharma said, “Parents should also visit the schools frequently.
It is sad that they hardly visit the schools where their children are studying. We will also frame some guidelines for the schools, particularly the boarding schools, to follow.”
