Chouhan to dedicate Malwa water project on Sept 27

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will dedicate the Narmada-Malwa Link Project at the junction place Kalmervadi of Narmada at 5.00 pm. on September 27.

This project was announced by Chouhan in the year 2012 for a permanent solution to the water crisis of Malwa region. Before the dedication programme, the Chief Minister will address farmers at Depalpur village. The project completed within the stipulated time will facilitate water for irrigation on 50,775 hectare (1.25 lakh acre) of 164 villages along with potable water to hundred of villages.

It may be mentioned that Narmada water will reach Malwa region after lifting it upto 427 meter height at 15 cubic meter per second capacity from the main canal located at the right bank of the Omkareshwar project. Under the project, which was the challenging task of the civil engineering field, water will be lifted by 68.142 long k.m. pipeline of 3 meter diameter through the remote forest area. Finally, the challenging task to bring Narmada water to Badi Kalmer village, the junction place of Indore district has been completed in 3 and half years period. The Narmada-Gambhir confluence site has been developed as the place of tourists’ attraction. Snan ghats have also been constructed for visitors at this place, where Narmada water will be released in the form of water fall in Gambhir river.

Besides, Chief Minister Chouhan will perform bhoomi poojan of the First Phase of the Narmada-Kalisindh Link Project at Sonkacch of Dewas district on September 27. Before this, he will also perform bhoomi poojan of Narmada-Kshipra Multipurpose Micro Irrigation Scheme at Tarana village on September 26.
