City auto driver held for looting passengers

Police on Friday nabbed an auto-rickshaw driver from the Mancheswar area for allegedly robbing passengers at gunpoint at night.

The accused, identified as Mustak Ali Khan, used to ferry passengers in the day and indulge in loots and robberies in the night. Police seized a pistol and three bullets from Khan’s possession.

On the basis of a number of complaints lodged against the accused, the police conducted a raid in the Mancheswar area and nabbed him.

According to police, the accused used to drive an auto-rickshaw during daytime and loot persons of their valuables after dusk.

The accused is in custody and his interrogation is underway, the police said. The police registered a case against him under relevant Sections of IPC and Section 25 of the Arms Act.
