Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat participated in “ Swachchhata se Sewa” programme held at Pandit Deen Dyal Upadhyaya park in Dehradun on Monday. Along with other public representatives, the Chief Minister cleaned a part of the park on the occasion.
Speaking informally to the media on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that on ‘Vishwakarma Diwas’, birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and remembrance of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, programmes of ‘Swachchhata’, ‘Kavyanjali’ and ‘Karyanjali’ are being held.
He said that ‘Swachchh Bharat’ is a dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The level of cleanliness affects the society, environment and economics as 60 per cent of the diseases are caused by lack of cleanliness.
He said that there is need to make the general masses aware about cleanliness and efforts are being made to associate various organisations and social bodies in the cleanliness programmes.
The Chief Minister also called upon the people to help make their homes, surroundings and cities clean and throw the garbage at the designated places only.
He also called for minimum use of chemicals in daily lives so that the water resources remain clean. Stating that water and even mother’s milk had become affected by arsenic, he appealed for lesser use of chemical fertilisers in farming and called for encouraging organic farming.
Tehri Lok Sabha MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah and legislator Khajan Das were also among those present on the occasion.
