Chief Minister Raghubar Das, reviewed the security arrangements in view of Chhath celebrations in the city. Das who is also Jamshedpur East MLA, on Monday inaugurated three Chhath ghats and a park named after him at different places in his constituency.
“I am really happy to be here amidst festive fervour. I promise that more such parks will come up so that poor residing in urban slums also undertake physical exercise. The government is committed to provide some facilities for both rural and urban areas and soon areas of Baridih will also avail of piped drinking water facility,” said Das.
Significantly, the park is spread in nearly 2.5 acre of area has a jogger’s pathway of nearly 304 meters. The park built at a cost of Rs 94 lakh has a high mast light and also has a 10 seater toilet.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the Bhojpur Ghat running nearly 325 in length close to the park. Earlier, the Chief Minister went from the Sonari Airport directly to Birsanagar Zone Number 9 to inaugurate an artificial reservoir as chhath ghat.
The chhath ghat has been constructed by Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) at an estimated cost of Rs 8 lakh and measures 25 feet x 40 feet.
Das, who is also the chief patron of Sidhgora based Surya Mandir Committee, gave instructions on cleanliness and safety. Like every year, the Surya Mandir Committee will organise a mega musical concert in the evening of November 13. Well known singer Suresh Wadekar will perform at the Surya Mandir premises this year.
Meanwhile district administration in the city, to maintain utmost safety and security for the Chhath devotees, will deploy 1,000 cops at various ghats in the city while also directing all police stations to remain open round-the-clock to deal with any emergency.
Sources informed that a three-tier security arrangement has been made for Jamshedpur under which all the ghats would be under surveillance to monitor any dangerous or criminal activity.
Besides, the deployment of 1,000 cops, metal detectors will also be used at the 'sensitive' ghats to keep the criminals at bay, said an official
Plain-clothed policemen at the ghats and security officials on boats would be monitoring the situation from the river as experts divers would be nearby in case of any drowning incident.
In the light of devotees traditionally offering prayers to the Sun god dipping into the river the administration has resolved to identify safe places (Chhat ghats) for offering prayers at the two rivers. Besides, the administration has decided to depute divers and life jackets in adequate strength at Chhat ghats.
