The young lady from Pauri who was severely burnt by an assailant will be taken to the Safdarjung hospital in Delhi by air-ambulance. The Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said this after visiting the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh to enquire about her condition on Tuesday.

Visiting AIIMS and seeking information about her condition from doctors, the Chief Minister said that she will be taken to the Safdarjung hospital for better treatment. In Safdarjung hospital, necessary arrangements have been ensured for the treatment of the victim. All expenses on the treatment of the victim will be borne by the State Government, added Rawat.

The Chief Minister further said that the person who had set the student ablaze after dousing her with petrol has been arrested by the police and action as per law is being taken against him. Describing the incident as tragic, he wished the victim a speedy recovery. Along with the Chief Minister, the State’s Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prakash pant also inquired about the victim’s health. The Vidhan Sabha speaker and Rishikesh MLA Prem Chand Agrawal also visited AIIMS to inquire about the health of the victim.

It is pertinent to mention here that on Sunday, a BSc student in Pauri was stalked by a man when she was returning home. The accused-a taxi driver dragged her to roadside where he tried to sexually assault her. On meeting with resistance, he poured petrol over her and set her on fire. The girl was later taken to the Pauri district hospital from where she was referred to Srinagar medical college hospital.

Due to the seriousness of her condition, she was referred from Srinagar to a higher centre and brought to AIIMS Rishikesh. The police later arrested the accused Manoj Singh.
