As part of Jamshedpur Fest, coin exhibition Jamcoin will be organised at the Red Cross Bhawan in Sakchi. Jamcoin will be organised between Dec 9 and Dec 11 with 29 teams from 13 city schools already registered for participation.  At a press meet today, Tarun Daga, managing director of Jusco and the chairperson of the Coin Collector's Club that is organising the exhibition. During the exhibition 15 dealers from across the country are expected to come to showcase and sell their collection. Dealers from Ahmedabad, Baroda, Calcutta, Mumbai, Patna, Ranchi and Rajasthan will be present during the exhibition.

Established in 1994, the club is the only organisation in the state working for the promotion of numismatics. The club, which has 100 odd members, is also gearing up to add new members by launching a membership campaign in the eastern region.

The official said that even though a large section of coin collectors are eager to come on the common platform to exhibit their rare collection. But in the wake of lack of awareness about the presence of the club they are unable to display their love for ancient coins. Therefore, a sustain campaign is being carried to bring the otherwise scattered coin collectors under one umbrella.

"City-based coin collectors club has proved its merit by successfully organising exhibition for last more than decade and its eagerness to venture into the auction. The exhibition shall see a display of rare collection of coins from ancient era, Moghul rule, Maratha, Medieval and pre-independence period,” said an official.

Officials of the club further went on to say that the display will have 100 frames depicting ancient Mediaval, Moghul, pre and post independence, modern coinage and paper money. Rare coin collectors from across India, including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Indore and Kolkata will also participate with their coins collection in the exhibition.

“I am a great lover of ancient coins and I am happy that the exhibition of rare collection of coins is happening in Jamshedpur. I am hopeful of having a great time and getting some important information and knowledge about our rich history and tradition. I think everyone must come forward and support the exhibition,” said Harsh Jain, a student.
