Cong leaders object National-level BJP leaders’ presence

Tuesday, 20 November 2018 | Staff Reporter | Raipur

Objecting to presence of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders from outside the State, who were allegedly camping at BJP office ‘Ekatma Parisar’ here, Congress leaders led by Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee  (CGPCC) Chief Bhupesh Baghel staged a sit-in in front of office of the State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Subrat Sahoo on Monday afternoon.

The Congress leaders raised objection that BJP leaders from outside the State including National Joint General Secretary (Organization) Saudan Singh, National General Secretary and In-charge of Chhattisgarh Dr Anil Kumar Jain were still camping at Ekatma Parisar. This was a violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and the Election Commission must immediately take action on it, they demanded.

Later their sit-in was ended after a delegation led by Baghel met the CEO.

Baghel later informed media persons that they had also expressed their suspicion that the government machinery and many officers were working in favour of BJP.
