Dubbing the agitation staged by Congress on second demonetisation anniversary as manifestation of frustration because of the sudden spiriting away of the black money stacked for years, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president Ajay Bhatt said that the demonetisation has on the contrary given an impetus to the economy. In a statement, the BJP leader said that three lakh shell companies had got exposed. “Besides, it has raised the number of people filing returns,” he said. He further said that Rs 65250 crore had come into the economy by income declaration scheme while Rs 35460 crore had come by the income tax survey. “Importantly, the fake currency which helped the Pakistan- sponsored terrorism was finished off by demonetisation and the growth rate has received a forward push,” Bhatt said.
Coming down heavily on the Congress leaders, the BJP State president said the party had thrived on black money. “The leaders are neck deep in corruption,” he said.
Terming Congress as a ‘bail party’, Bhatt said that Congress president Rahul Gandhi and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi are on bail in many corruption cases.
