Cong to fulfil poll promises, says Punia

Wednesday, 12 December 2018 | Staff Reporter | Raipur

Promises made by us to farmers, unemployed and other sections of social strata in the poll manifesto were trusted by them and they rejected the allurements of Bharatiya Janata Party while providing a clear mandate to us, said Chhattisgarh In-charge of All India Congress Committee (AICC) P.L. Punia on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference here at State Congress Office Rajiv Bhawan on Tuesday, Punia asserted that it was a historic moment to see when the people of the State prepared their mindset for a change and they proved that allurements don’t work when people make up their mind.

He further assured the people of the State that the new government formed would work on the agendas set in the manifesto and would work for their fulfillment.

Punia further thanked party’s State leadership of working unitedly and also to the party’s workers for achieving the uphill task of uprooting 15-year-old BJP regime.

“Booth-level workers stood firm like a rock and the all the senior leaders of the State worked matching shoulder to shoulder and that ascertained the victory of the party, “ he said.

Punia further asserted that this was a semi-final and expressed his hope that same performance by the party would be repeated in the finals of 2019 general elections.

Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) Chief Bhupesh Baghel who was also present on the occasion dedicated the victory to the martyrs of Jheeram incident.

He also thanked party’s National President Rahul Gandhi for providing ample time to Chhattisgarh affairs and for providing valuable guidance from time to time.

Baghel also appreciated the able guidance of Punia and said it was the foresightedness of the AICC Chief to send Punia to the state which ensured victory for the party.
