Corrupt BJD afraid of Lokayukta: Niranjan Patnaik

Thursday, 13 September 2018 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

PCC president Niranjan Patnaik on Wednesday launched a tirade against the Naveen Patnaik Government in the State for not appointing the Lokayukta though the timeframe given by the Supreme Court for this has expired.

He said that time and again, the Odisha CM and his Council of Ministers have talked about transparency, but one of the former senior ministers and senior leader of Biju legacy Dr Damodar Rout has put forth so many corruption allegations against the Government.

But instead of talking any step to inquire in to the allegations, Chief Minister Patnaik rather is biased and thing otherwise controlled as he is by a non-Odia officer, the PCC chief charged.

This shows how transparent the State Government is. Because of all these reasons, the Odisha Government is afraid of appointing Lokayukta in the State, he alleged.

In a Press statement, Patnaik said both the BJP Government at the Center and BJD in the State are out and out corrupt.

He said with the implementation of ill-conceived policies like the demonetisation and GST, people have suffered miserably as hundreds of small and medium industries were closed and lakhs lost their job.

Patnaik also raised the Rafale aircraft deal in which the Prime Minister is clearly involved as he is not saying a single word in the Parliament on the issue. He said the UPA Government led by Congress enacted the Lokapal and Lokayukta legislation in 2013 during its 2nd term.
