Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) has demanded Gairsain be declared as the capital of the State without any further delay.
Speaking to the media persons after the end of the two- day convention of party executive here on Saturday, UKD president Diwakar Bhatt said that the State Government should respect the sentiments of the people and declare Gairsain as the permanent capital of the state right in the Monsoon session itself. “The State Government must stop dithering and take the long over- due decision in tune with the soul of the statehood agitation,” he said.
He further said that the officers involved in the excise and mining scam as exposed by the report of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) should be punished. He also demanded that the State Government should waive off the loans of the farmers.
Bhatt added that the Government should regularise the services of UPNL workers and strictly enforce the guideline of providing 70 per cent of jobs in the State to the local people. He warned that the UKD would launch a State- wide agitation if the Government fails to accept their demands. “These are the people’s demands and the State Government cannot afford to sit on them for an indefinite period of time,” UKD chief said.
