Tuesday, 30 October 2018 | PNS | Dehradun

The number of patients affected by dengue in Uttarakhand has crossed 550 mark on Monday as ten new cases of the dreaded vector- borne disease have been reported by the state health authorities. On the day, all the ten patients of the disease have been reported from Haridwar, taking the count to 551.

Haridwar district with 183 cases of the disease so far has reported the maximum number of dengue patients this year while 173 people in Dehradun have been affected by the disease. In Tehri district, 108 cases of the disease have so far been reported while 55 patients have been found in Nainital district.

The health authorities  assure that there is nothing to panic with the rising count. But they advise the people to see to it that  the  breeding grounds inside and in the vicinity of their houses are destroyed.  They are also asking the  people to wear full-sleeved clothes during the day time to reduce exposure for the mosquito bite.

Dengue is a viral infection spread by the mosquito Aedes Aezypti popularly known as Tiger Mosquito.  The symptoms of the disease are persistent high fever, rashes, headache and pain in the joints. In the acute cases the platelets number decrease drastically which may prove fatal for the patient.
