In a horrific incident, a 57 year-old medical practitioner was found murdered in his house in Jahangirpuri area of Northwest Delhi on Monday morning. Initial investigation revealed that the doctor was killed for resisting robbery in his house.
The deceased was identified as Mukim Ahmed Iqbal, a Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) doctor. According to Aslam Khan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North-west district, they received a Police Control Room (PCR) call at 10:30 am following which a police team was rushed to the spot and found the body of the man lying on a bed. "Mukim was taken to Babu Jag Jeevann Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead," said the DCP.
"Mukim used to live with his daughter who worked as a guest teacher in a school. While he lived on the first floor, he ran his clinic on ground floor. Her daughter had left for school at around 7: 30 am," said the DCP.
"There were no injury marks found on the body of the deceased. However almirah in the house was found ransacked. The door of the house was found open, so it seemed to be a "friendly entry". Valuables which are missing are around Rs 4-5 lakh cash and jewellery worth Rs 5-6 lakhs, said the DCP.
"We have registered a case and further investigation is going on. We are also scanning CCTV footage in the area to identify the accused. The body of the deceased is sent for autopsy. The exact cause of the death would be ascertained after post-mortem. Further investigation is going on," the DCP added.
According to local residents in the area, Doctor's daughter Shafia was getting married this month and for that the doctor had bought lots of jewellery.
