Doorstep delivery BJP’s brainchild, claims party MP Sahasrabuddhe

Much discussed "Doorstep Delivery (DSD)" scheme in Delhi, the key component of the manifesto of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections in the State, is a brainchild of the BJP. Member of Parliament (MP) in Rajya Sabha, Vinay Sahasrabuddhe claimed that DSD was launched by them and will be strengthened  further.

Sahastrabudde, a senior BJP leader was in Delhi to launch a research report on Union Government's scheme - Saubhagy Yojana :  From darkness to light , an impact assessment of Madhya Pradesh.

After being asked about the DSD scheme, the BJP MP said, "BJP has always supported DSD scheme as it was first implemented in Gujarat to provide health services to pregnant women at their doorstep. We support it everywhere, be in  Delhi or in any other State,"  Sahasrabuddhe said.

Meanwhile, a research body Public Policy Research Centre, headed by Sahasrabuddhe linked to BJP said that Union government's scheme to connect all houses with electricity has made positive contributions to people's lives in a host of fields, including ease of living, education, income generation, health and their sense of security.

Researchers who were there during the launch said that they have done 250 cases studies. "From ease of living, reduced unproductive efforts , in education , Income generation, health , social change, security, energy conversation to self esteem, the reach of electricity in Madhya Pradesh villages have changed many things in rural areas", they added. 

For Instance — Villages newly connected to electricity have undergone a social change with enhanced use of television, mobile phones and social media, the research said.

In remote habitations nestled around forests and hills, residents said cases of snake bites and scorpion bites have come down due to light.

Presence of light has given students on an average 90 more minutes for studies, the research said and cited case studies to claim that people running shops near highways have their earnings boosted due to more business during evening.
