DPS, Ranchi student tops in science in Jharkhand

Taking its rich legacy ahead Delhi Public School (DPS), Ranchi students came out with flying colours once again setting an example for others in the class 12th board examination. The students of the prestigious cradle proved their mettle in the two streams—Science and Commerce scoring the highest overall percentage in the Capital City.

Prakhar Kumar of Science stream stole the limelight on Saturday by grabbing State topper crown. Kumar who aspires to become an engineer scored 98 per cent. Kumar scored 100 marks in Physical Education and Painting. Expressing his gratitude towards parents, teachers and friends, Kumar said, “It is due to the support of my family members and teachers’ cooperation that I have been able to achieve this fabulous success. I want to pursue Computer Science Engineering from IIT-Bombay.” Kumar recently took JEE Advance Examination.

Kumar’s father is employed with Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC), while his mother is a teacher. According to a statement released by the school management, Kumar’s performance in Science stream till date is the most impressive academic performance by any student. 

From DPS, Ranchi 621 students appeared in the CBSE – 12 examinations. Over 518 students took the examination in Science stream while 103 students were of commerce stream. Carrying forward the success rate, 276 students scored 90 per cent and above. As many as 26 students scored 100 per cent marks in different subjects.

Notably, cent percent students in Science Stream secured first division. 95 per cent students in science stream secured 75 per cent and above. Shikha Kumari of Science stream got 97.40 per cent becoming the third State topper followed by Saswati Mallick and Ritul Garg who jointly scored 97.20 per cent.

Besides the Science stream, students of commerce wing of this institution performed exceptionally well depicting the efforts and sheer dedication of the faculty members. Sonam Sinha became second State topper in commerce stream scoring 96.80 per cent. Khushi Saraf and Ritu Goenka were declared the second toppers in the school in commerce. Both these girls scored 96.20 per cent. Aditi Agarwal in commerce was placed in third position. Agarwal scored 96 per cent.

Out of 103 students, who appeared in the board examination from commerce stream, 91 students scored 75 per cent and above, breaking all previous records. Overwhelmed with the success of the students, DPS Ranchi Principal, Dr. Ram Singh said that due to constant efforts of teachers and hard-work of the students, DPS Ranchi has been able to create a distinct place among all the schools.
