Dr Dolittle Promises to be there at PHC for all the medical Check up

Saturday, 14 April 2018 | PNS | Lucknow

Next time you visit a Primary Health Centre (PHC) and do not find any doctor, do not fear of being treated by a wardboy, compounder or sweeper, as ‘Dr Dolittle’ would be there to take care of you.

From clinical check-up to dispensing medicines, it will all take just a few minutes for Dr dolittle to provide primary medical care, that too under the guidance of best medical practitioners in the state.

Confused !  Dr Dolittle is a medical diagnostic robotic machine which will do your pathological tests, give findings and even dispense medicines at a click. This whole process will take hardly 12 minutes and the machine named Dr Dolittle costs about Rs 12 lakh.

“We are going to install these machines in 500 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) of the state in a phased manner to augment medical services of the state”, Health minister Sidharth Nath Singh said in lucknow on Friday.

Singh said that the technology would not only save time but also cut down on required manpower to a great extent. “The biggest advantage of Dr Dolittle is that now patients in rural areas would not feel the shortage of doctors or medical staff and their primary health care would be taken up just at one place”. Budgetary allocation for the project is through and installation will start soon,” Singh asserted.

The minister further said that once the robot completed your blood profile and others clinical check-ups (chest x-ray, eye and throat tests etc), it would send report to a centralised desk, comprising of expert doctors.

“These doctors will then advise medicines which will be dispensed by the robot to patients along with clinical and blood tests reports. The entire process will take a maximum of 12 minutes but the biggest advantage is that one would not have to go from one place to another for clinical tests, doctors advise and collect medicines. As Dr Dolittle will take care of every primary medical need,” said the minister.
