Chhola Mandir police have nabbed a drug peddler near Cement Godown and recovered drugs worth Rs 30,000 from his possession on Tuesday.
Police said that acting on a tip-off regarding a man carrying drugs was nabbed near Cement Godown and when he was searched 2.35 kg of Cannabis was recovered from his possession. The accused was identified as Sudeep Unthwar, a resident of Vidisha who failed to provide details of the drugs recovered from his possession.
Police said that the details of procurement and delivery of the drugs would be searched in the further investigation. After the initial investigation police have registered a case under sections 8 and 20 of the NDPS Act.
Police said that the source of the drugs and their scheduled delivery to the customer in the city and nearby areas would be probed.
The accused confessed that he had visited the city for selling of drugs in the past. During the initial investigation it was found that the accused was scheduled to deliver the drugs in the city but was nabbed before he could deliver drugs.
Police said that his local connections have to be searched and during the police remand further investigation would be conducted. The accused was nabbed while trying to sell drugs to the customer based in the state capital.
The accomplices involved in the nexus would be searched in the further investigation. The crime record of the accused would be searched from his area where he belongs.
