Dwarka Metro station to get interchange facility soon

Saturday, 29 September 2018 | GAYATHRI MANI | NEW DELHI

Now, travel will be easier for the passengers, especially those who start their trip from Dwarka and Najafgarh rural area as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is turning the Dwarka station into a major interchange facility for the upcoming ‘Grey Corridor’. After Rajouri Garden and Janakpuri West, this station will become the third major interchange facility in the western part of city.

“This will be third major interchange facility in the western part of Delhi. Once the station will operate, travel will be easy for the entire Dwarka Sub-city as well as the people of the Nazafgarh and the nearby rural areas.

Currently, taking a metro is a difficult thing for the people of Najafgarh and the nearby rural area because transport facility from the area is very less. People use public transport or the Grahmin Seva to reach Dwarka mode Metro Station and the area is very

congested and has no parking facility. Moreover, if a passenger comes from his vehicle, have to travel a long till Dwarka to park the vehicle and board the train,” said a Senior DMRC official.

The interchange station which will connect the three upcoming stations on the grey line — Nangli, Sakrawati and Najafgarh is expected to be open by July 2019. However, the upcoming Grey Line will have six stations connecting till Dhansa will serve the entire Najafgarh area.

With major interchange facility, Dwarka station will be first station with ‘Five platform facility among all the 198 Metro Stations. “This will be the first station with five platforms and the station is like very different from the other stations as it will connect the Grey Line in T-Shape with Dwarka station and straight concourse and then the five platforms.

Further, the work is in progress but the construction is very difficult in this area especially in the congested areas like Nangli, Sakrwati and Nazafgarh,” added the DMRC official.

Further, DMRC hasalso decided to create the Najafgarh station as a train depot with both the facility of ‘Standard-gauge and Broadband-Guage.
