To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary Mahatma Gandhi, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) started the Swachhata Pakhwada here on Saturday in a big way giving focus on cleanliness at railway station premises, trains, offices, workshops, maintenance depots, hospitals and residential areas.
The Pakhwada will continue till the Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, 2018.
On the occasion, ECoR General Manager Umesh Singh administered oath on Swachhata to employees and their family members,
officers at Rail Vihar and to passengers, NGOs and station employees at Bhubaneswar railway station here.
Staff and officers participated in the Prabhat Pheris at Rail Vihar Colony and at Bhubaneswar railway station and at other places with slogans of cleanliness, including Swachhata Hi Seva. Singh also led the Shramdaan at Rail Vihar, Rail Sadan and at Bhubaneswar station by cleaning its surroundings and also by sapling plants. To aware general public, employees and residents of railway colonies, Nukkad Natak was played by railway employees, the KIIT University NSS Wing and Mow-Momo Group.
Singh, passengers and employees also watched Prime Minister’s live message on Swachhata Hi Seva.
