Eight jailed in Chando communal violence

Life is leaping back to normal at Chando and also at Bakouriya where on the night of Friday communal convulsions took place between two communities. According to Superintendant of Police (SP) P Palamu Indrajeet Mahatha eight people accused of this violence at Chando were remanded to judicial custody on Sunday. Police have invoked various sections of IPC against them.

Police sources said that the jailed persons belong to both communities. Inspector General of Police (IG) Navin Kumar and DIG STF Saket Kumar Singh who reached Chando on Saturday reviewed the situation and police deployment there. The two left for Ranchi the same evening.

IG police Navin Kumar said, “Situation at Chando is normal. Our vigil is very high there. Bakouriya is all peaceful and pretty normal.” DIG STF Saket K Singh said, “Our push is for peace and harmony and these two are there at Chando and Bakouriya.”

Satya Narain Singh who was driving the tractor with idols and met with accident when his tractor that he was driving hit wall and tree leading to his treatment in the government sadar hospital Daltonganj where he succumbed to his accident injuries was cremated at the Koyal ghat in Chando on Saturday, said the SP.

Police helped this family by providing timber for the pyre added SP who said this was a humanitarian gesture of police on occasion like this where some wayward people of both the communities saw red at each other.
