In case the electors who are not able to produce the Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC), they can produce one of 12 alternative photo identity documents for establishing their identity to cast their vote, said Chhattisgarh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Subrat Sahoo on Tuesday while briefing the media here.

He said that the Election Commission has directed to provide ‘Authenticated Photo Voters Slips’ to the electors well before the date of poll. As per the Assembly polls 2018, in State Legislative Assembly of Chhattisgarh, the notification for first phase of polling was issued on October 16 and second phase on October 26.

All the nomination papers filing for both the phases have been completed. The polling is scheduled on November 12 in 18 assembly constituencies and November 20 in 72 assembly constituencies.

Sahoo said that all electors having issued EPICs shall produce their EPICS for their identification at the polling station before casting their votes. So those who are unable to do so can use, passport, driving license, service identity cards with photograph issued to employees by Central/State Govt, PSUs/Public Limited Companies, Passbooks with photograph issued by Bank/Post office, PAN card, Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR, MNREGA job card, Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour, Pension documents with photograph, Authenticated Photo Voter Slip issued by the election machinery, official identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs and Aadhaar Card.

Sahoo pointed out that in case of EPIC, clerical errors, spelling mistakes and others should be ignored provided the identity of elector can be established.

If an Elector produces an EPIC, which has been issued by the Electoral Registration Officer of another Assembly constituency, such EPICs shall also be accepted for identification provided the name of that elector finds place in the electoral roll pertaining to the polling station where the elector has turned up for voting.
