The State Government’s Food Supply Minister, Saryu Rao on Sunday, instructed his department’s Secretary to collect data’s from Department of Agriculture that how much paddy produced in various districts.
Expressing happiness over the award given to the State in development for good show in agricultural Roy said that growth recorded in paddy production across the State should be collected district wise and block wise so that the government could procure paddy as per Minimum Support Price (MSP).
The Minister further said that according to numbers paddy production, during the year 2016-17, has been more than 48 laks metric tons. But purchasing on MSP has been 2 lakh metric tons to 2.25 lakh metric tons. It is necessary to know the mismatch between production and purchasing, he added.
He instructed that to purchase increased quantity of paddy we have to use the instrument which has helped the agriculture department to get success in production of paddy. Roy instructed the Secretary that he should ask the Secretary, Department of Agriculture to provide help of krisi mitra, cooperative institutions and others.
The Minister further said, “The Government of India has fix paddy purchase rate at Rs. 1750 per quintal. The department has proposed to give Rs.200 per quintal as bonus to the farmers. The rate of paddy in market is very lower than MSP of the government. There is need to bring farmers at government purchase centers’. Krishimitra should start the work from their heart so that the farmers get benefit of production.”
