In the first meeting of the Bhagirathi eco-sensitive zone monitoring committee, 20 of the 23 proposals tabled were accorded approval in principle. The meeting was presided over by the chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh at the secretariat here on Tuesday.
The chief secretary directed that in the next meeting a check list according to the eco sensitive zone notification, validity of proposals and observance of standards should be presented in the next meeting of the monitoring committee.
It will be recalled that the area on the banks of the Bhagirathi river from Gangotri to Uttarkashi has been declared an eco-sensitive zone.
The State has submitted a zonal master plan regarding this to the Government of India.
In the meeting of the eco sensitive zone monitoring committee held on Tuesday, six proposals from the Public Works Department, two from the district Panchayat, seven from Border Roads Organisation, five from Irrigation Department and three from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were presented.
