Fear factor gone at Saryu in Latehar: DIG, STF

Wednesday, 19 September 2018 | PNS | DALTONGANJ

Naxal scenario at Saryu in Latehar district is now a totally subdued of what it used to be just three years back here like dark, uncertain and frightful

CPI Maoists have left this all time and all season ‘head quarter ‘ of them at Saryu.  The space which had shrunk in the past is now expanding. Maoists emptied this place only to pitch their tents at Burha Pahar where too the continuous offensives against them by security forces the Maoists are more down the Pahar than up and are scattered.

DIG STF Saket Kumar Singh, who was here at Saryu on Sunday along with SP Latehar Parshant Anand said the naxal scenario at Saryu is now a thing of the past as people here muster courage to tell us what loss they have suffered or undergone during those years here when Maoists used to rule the roost here.

Singh said, “ People of once naxal dominated or ruled domain now have got tongue to wag against them which some years back used to be tongue tied for fear of Maoists.”

The ‘Fear Factor’ is gone said DIG STF and now it is time to further accelerate the pace of development here as this place was literally gagged by the Maoists. DIG quoting locals said at Saryu there never hid any local Maoists but the outsiders as this is being narrated now by the villagers. DIGr referred to a girl here who said the unknown Maoists then at Saryu used to cast their evil eyes on them!

On Sunday if DIG STF and Parshant Anand SP Latehar oversaw the security aspects here the DC Latehar Rajeev Kumar reviewed his various schemes of the government here. It was a twin purpose arrival of this team of DIG SP and DC here on Sunday.

Life in day and at night of the locals here was under the control of the Maoists who used to fix the movement of the locals but now residents breathe in an atmosphere of peace, openness and freedom.

“ Life here continues to be still challenging here as there is no end to development as development is a continuous process and when the Maoists kept this area blocked from basic developments it will require more time to make this place Saryu to run at par with other places where Maoists fear torture and atrocity was far less” added DIG.

He said there are still pockets here where riding a bike is as difficult as taming any river in spate. Cry for more and more development fills the air and our security post here doubles up as integrated development centre.

Construction of two bridges here at Chopat nullah and Doma kharn has straightened the journey from Latehar to Garu via Saryu which in the days of Maoists was a terrible time taking circuitous route said DIG STF.
