Two youths were killed and two others sustained critical injuries in an incident of firing at a concert held at Katikata Bazaar under the Nischintakoili police limits in Cuttack district on Wednesday night.
According to reports, a heated exchange of words had taken place between Sheikh Imran (25) of Parasailo village and another person at the concert. It soon took an ugly turn as the latter took out a gun and fired at Imran killing him on the spot.
As others present at the concert approached towards the spot, the person also opened fire at them, as a result of which three of them sustained critical bullet injuries. The injured ones, identified as Raghunath Mallik (16), Nityananda Mallik (30) and Uttam Das (30), were admitted to the SCB Medical College Hospital here for treatment. However, Nityananda succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital on Thursday.
The accused managed to flee the spot after the gathering ran helter-skelter during the firing. Police started investigation into the incident and efforts were on to nab the accused.
