Folk songs, Kathak dance at Tribal Museum

The Bhopalites enjoyed a calm evening with Nimadi Folk songs and spontaneous Kathak dance performance at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum here on Sunday. The performances were held under Uttaradhikar series of classical performances.

Renowned folk singer Shiva Gupta performed the Nimadi Folk music before the Bhopaltes. The Kathak dance performance on the other hand was performed by Megha Ranjini.

The event began with the performance by Shiva Gupta. Shiva began the performance with Goddess Narmada Stuti ‘Kalamal Harni Devi Narmada'. After this he performed a devotional song based on Saint Singaji ‘Tay Kavan Aavoge’. The performance was followed with a love song ‘Tere Sang Chalunga’.

Shiva wrapped up his performance with 'Maak Kayio Mari ray Baalma' and 'Devi ray dada pahadi me' with his fellow artists. During this presentation, Shiva Gupta was accompanied by Sardar Bhai Rawat on Khanjri, Ram Bali Patel on Jhansh, Ram Yadav on tabla, Mukesh Yadav, Lalit Goalkar and Rameshwar Verma on the chorus.

After this Megha Ranjini performed Kathak along with her troupe. The Kathak began with ‘Shiva Stuti’. In this presentation the artists performed various forms of Lord Shiva and then performed his Yashogaan.

After this, the artists performed Shraddha Nritya Kathak in madhya laya, dhrut taal leaving the audience mesmerized. To givea grand closure to the performance, the artists performed 'Bhagwati Vandana' on stage. In this presentation, the artistes presented the forms of goddess Bhagawati on the stage and singed the songs of Lord Bhagwati.

Shiva Gupta has been active in the field of public singing for a long time. He has given many renditions of Nimadi songs with his singing skills in different areas of the state. Megha Ranjani has been honored with many prestigious awards. Megha Ranjini has given many captivating performances of Kathak dance on various art forums in the country.
