In order to transport a liver, a green corridor was provided from Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) to Institute of Liver and Biliary Science (ILBS) hospital, Vasant Kunj on Monday. The Delhi Traffic Police made arrangements to ensure that the ambulance carrying the liver reached its destination without a hitch.
“The liver was transported from Patna to Delhi on Monday around 6:40 pm. The distance from IGI terminal-3 to ILBS is about 13 km despite of rain and peak hours the team reached the hospital in 11 minutes from IGI,” said Alok Kumar, joint Commissioner of Police, Delhi traffic police. “Despite the rainy day we executed the plan and created a green corridor for the operation as liver needs to be replanted into the recipient within four hours of its retrieval from the donor. Due to team collective efforts we had reached the hospital within the stipulated time,” said Kumar.
