Hardik Patel hits out at Centre, UP govt

Friday, 16 November 2018 | PNS | Lucknow

Hitting out at the Bharatiya Janata Party governments at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh, Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti leader Hardik Patel said that both governments were busy in changing names while the people were craving for basic necessities.

He said if changing names could solve problems, all the people would have prefixed Ram before their names.

"All the people of the country should have the name Ram if changing names can solve the problems, like the Yogi Adityanath government has changed the name of Faizabad and Allahabad, " he said.

Talking to reporters in Shahjahanpur after attending the Kalki Mahotsava, Patel said, "Agar is desh mein sirf sheharon ke naam badalne se desh ko sone ki chidiya bana sakte toh main maanta hun ki 125 crore Hindustaniyon ka naam Ram rakh dena chahiye (If changing the names of cities can make this country rich, then all 125 crore Indians must be named Ram)."

"Is desh mein berozgari, kisanon ka prashna bada hai aur yeh naam aur murtiyon ke chakkar mein hain (the issues of unemployment and of farmers are big in this country, but they are only interested in names and idols)," Patel further said.

The leader from Gujarat also announced that now he would camp in UP and launch an agitation against the BJP government to highlight the misrule of the Yogi Adityanath government.

"UP decides the course of the country's politics hence I would like to have a strong organisation in this state," he said.

Claiming that Ram temple construction was a political issue of the BJP in the coming Lok Sabha elections, Patel said that the Centre as well as the UP government were raking up the Ram temple issue only to divert the attention of the people from CBI mess, Rafale and the state of economy.

"Unemployment problem in the state has increased several notches and the Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti would like to work on this issue," he said.
