Harsimrat hails conviction of 2 in 1984 riots

Friday, 16 November 2018 | PNS | Chandigarh

SAD MP from Bathinda and the Union Food Processing Industries Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal on Thursday said that the conviction of two accused responsible for “butchering” two Sikhs in 1984 anti-Sikh riots on the basis of SIT investigation had paved the way for similar convictions against Congress leaders Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar and “a final closure to the Congress-sponsored barbarity against the Sikh community”.

Welcoming the conviction of two persons who killed two young Sikhs in Mahipalpur village in South Delhi in 1984 in the aftermath of assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Harsimrat said that this was a direct result of affirmative action taken by the NDA Government to bring the guilty to book.
