After a grenade explosion inside Nirankari Bhavan in Amritsar's Adliwal village that killed three people and injured several others, Haryana Police has made elaborate security arrangements for the annual Nirankari Sant Samagam to be held at Samalkha in district Panipat from November 24 to 26.
An alert has also been sounded in Haryana in view of the annual event.
Haryana Director General of Police, BS Sandhu on Thursday said that foolproof security arrangements have been made in view of the 71st annual Nirankari Sant Samagam at Samalkha.
Sandhu said that in view of the expected heavy turnout of followers, large numbers of police personnel from Police Academy Madhuban, Gurugram, Faridabad, Hisar, Fatehabad, Sirsa, Jind, Rewari, Narnaul and Palwal have been deployed to prevent any untoward incident.
Apart from senior police officers, additional police force, traffic police personnel, commandos and SWAT teams have also been deployed to keep an eye on the miscreants during the function, he said.
ADGP (Law & Order) Mohammad Akil said around 1000 police personnel have been put in place for security arrangements. Apart from elaborate security and traffic management, areas around the venue have also been properly sensitised and adequate deployment of police force would be ensured to avoid any untoward incident, he said.
Three people were killed and 20 were injured when two masked bike-borne men had forced their way into the prayer hall of Nirankari Bhawan in Amritsar on Sunday and threw the grenade on the crowd.
A day before, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had informed that one of the two accused had been arrested, claiming that ISI-backed Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) was behind the terror attack.
