The High Court of Uttarakhand has directed Deccan Aviation company to start Delhi-Pantnagar-Dehradun heli service within 15 days. The High Court also directed the State Government that if the company is unable to start the services within the given time, another company should be contracted to provide the service.
The division bench of acting Chief Justice Rajiv Sharma and justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari issued these orders while hearing a public interest litigation filed by advocate Pankaj Miglani.
The petitioner had stated that there is no regular air service between Pantnagar and Dehradun.
The Central Government had kept Pantnagar airport out of the Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme. In the absence of any direct service between Pantnagar and Dehradun, those in Pantnagar have to go via Delhi to reach Dehradun by air.
