The Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) signed an MoU with Energy Efficiency Services limited (ESSl) for electric cars supply here on Friday. HEC-CMD, Avijit Ghosh signed MoU with ESSl Regional Manager, Rakesh Jha on HEC Headquarters premises in the presence of other senior officials.
As per the agreement made between the companies, ESSl will convert all electric equipments like light, fans, ACs into energy efficient devices on HEC premises. The cost will be bear by ESSl for the coming five years. As per the estimate, over, 16,000 electronic appliances worth Rs. 14 crore of HEC will be changed.
As per the clause, ESSl - a joint venture of PSUs under the Ministry of Power has signed an agreement to provide 20 electric cars to HEC. HEC will make a monthly payment of Rs. 25,000 to ESSl for the electric cars.
“HEC on wide has done energy audit covering offices and industrial units. To curtail the dependency on electricity to a great extent, HEC has signed an agreement with ESSl. In the first of its kind attempt and with the support Government of India (GoI) and Department of Heavy Industries, EESl will convert diesel cars into electric cars. HEC is the first Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) to take up such an initiative. Also, EESl for trial has provided one electric car to HEC. Soon, more cars will be provided by the company,” said HEC – CMD, Abhijeet Ghosh while signing the agreement on Friday.
Director (Personnel) – MK Saxena, Rana Chakraborty, CAP, COF including in-charge of all the three industrial units were present on the occasion.
