Hry to set up textile unit in Jind

Monday, 22 October 2018 | PNS | Chandigarh

Chief Minister Manohar Lal on Sunday said that since almost all types of farming is done in Jind district, the possibility of setting up a textile unit  and organic food park would be explored.

With the setting up of industries, Jind district would rank among the leading districts of Haryana providing employment and self-employment resources to thousands of people, the Chief Minister said while addressing a public rally organised in Jind.

The Chief Minister also conceded the long pending demand of the people of Jind city by announcing the decision to provide canal-based drinking water and Rs 300 crore for various development projects.

Jind district would not lag behind in development. Work on the announcements made in the past for development of the district has been completed. Some projects are under progress and would be completed in the next one year, he said.

Regarding Jind bypass, Manohar Lal said work on the project would be completed in the next two months. The previous governments did consider a proposal to construct Jind bypass but did not have the courage to get the work started. But the present government has not only got the work completed on the bypass but also completed several other development projects, he said.

The Chief Minister said since the present government came to power, corruption had come down significantly and the remaining would alos be rooted out in the near future.  “We have kept our promises, be it regarding taking water up to the tail-ends of canals or reducing the prices of electricity. This has made  people have faith in the government,” he added

Without naming any opposition party, the Chief Minister said during the regime of previous governments, government jobs were given and government works were allocated through brokers or mediators. But, the present government has ended corruption by bringing all government schemes online. Now, no broker or recommendation works. What’s more, there is no fear in the atmosphere and people now breathe easy, he said.

Manohar Lal further said that the State Government has initiated several important schemes for farmers including the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Bhavantar Bharpayee Yojana, which have made farming risk-free.

We have given compensation to the farmers for the damages caused to their crops in less time as compared to the time taken by the previous governments. In the last 48 years, Rs 750 crore was distributed to farmers as compensation out of which the present government has distributed Rs 3,200 crore during the last four years, he added.

The Chief Minister also said the present government had ensured that farmers got profit of 50 per cent on their cost of producing Rabi and Kharif crops. If the cost increases, farmers would get one-and-a-half times the cost as price. Therefore, now they need not worry about any hike in the cost of production.

Manohar Lal directed the officers to ensure that women who had registered their names and addresses be provided with gas cylinder within 48 hours.

Speaking on the occasion, the Finance Minister, Capt Abhimanyu, said the development done by the present government in the last four years equalled the development done in Haryana during by various governments in the last 40 years.

More works would be executed in Jind district. The construction work on Jind-Rohtak road, which was closed for many years, would also start in a month, he added.
