Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh resigned on Tuesday taking moral responsibility for the BJP’s stunning defeat in the Assembly election and stated that he did his best for the people of Chhattisgarh in his 15-year-long stint as Chief Minister.
He told the media that he had sent his resignation to Governor Anandiben Patel.
“I got the credit for the BJP’s successive win in the State and as this election was fought on my name, I take moral responsibility for the defeat,” said Raman Singh after Congress returned to power with a two-third majority in the 90-member State Assembly.
He congratulated the Congress on its splendid success and said he would continue to serve the state from the opposition ranks. He opined that the result will have no bearing on the next Lok Sabha polls. He said the BJP would analyse the exact reasons for its debacle in the State soon.
