The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhubaneswar on the auspicious day of Rath Yatra on Saturday announced its final shifting of the central administration from the Toshali Bhawan located in the city to the permanent campus at Argul.
After being fully operational at its green and lustrous premises, IIT BBS Director Prof RV Raja Kumar said, “It gives us a great sense of achievement that the institute could have the accomplishment of coming together from a condition of a non-habitable place to an inspiring campus within a short period of three years. It marks the beginning of an era in the history of the IIT BBS to occupy its own land finally.”
Prof Kumar thanked the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development for its full support in granting adequate funds to the tune of Rs 850 crore for the Phase-2 construction and towards making the institute self-sufficient. He also thanked the State Government for its all-round support in bringing up the institute.
The institute comprises new state-of-the-art hostels, a lecture hall complex, new schools, adequate staff and faculty quarters, a central research facility, a 1,500-seat auditorium and expansion of existing school buildings by the side of many others with modern architecture and facilities.
