Pb Govt Dept exam to be held from Oct 22-27

Chandigarh: Punjab Government Departmental examinations of Assistant Commissioners, Extra Assistant Commissioner, IPS officers, Tehsildars, Revenue Officials and that of other departments are to be held from October 22 to October 27. A spokesman said, the officers who intend to appear in that the said departmental examination should send their applications to the Secretary to Government of Punjab, Department of Personnel and Secretary, Departmental Examination Committee(PCS Branch), Punjab Civil Secretariat through their respective departments in the pro forma designated for the same, by October 5. He saidt ‘no direct application will be entertained under any circumstances’ and the incomplete applications will be rejected and no roll number will be issued against such applications for which the onus will fall squarely on the applicant concerned.

Punjab Vigilance nabs Jail warder for taking bribe

Chandigarh: Punjab State Vigilance Bureau has nabbed a Jail warder posted at district jail Barnala red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 17,000. A spokesperson said Jail warder Harmanpreet Singh was arrested on the complaint of Major Singh of village Saidoke in Moga district. The complainant has approached the VB and said that his son is undergoing 20 years of imprisonment in Barnala Jail and has came to home to spend his clemency leave for 34 days but became ill. In order to increase the leave on the basis of a medical certificate, the jail warder was demanding Rs 20,000 and the deal was struck at Rs 17,000. A case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Patiala and further investigation was under progress.

Haryana CM condoles demise of Ved Vats

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Ministerr Manohar Lal has expressed grief over the demise of senior journalist  Ved Vats, who passed away on Monday. The Chief Minister said with his demise we lost a senior journalist, who was giving his services in India News Haryana (Gohana) and Haryana Sanjivani weekly Newspaper.Rajiv Jain, media advisor to Chief Minister, Principal Secretary, Information, Public Relations and Languages, Rajesh Khullar and Director General, Information, Public Relations and Languages, Sameer Pal Srow also expressed their condolences to members of his family.

MCMC approval mandated for advertisements

Chandigarh: In the pursuance of the Supreme Court's directions, Election Commission has issued the guidelines for political parties about advertisements. Commission has mandated that political parties should get approval certification prior from Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) regarding advertisements in the electronic media. A spokesperson said, the Supreme Court had pronounced judgment in a case on April 13, 2004 under Article 142 of the Constitution. Court pronounced that all the political parties, candidates, persons, group of persons of Trusts, who propose to insert the advertisement in the electronic media (including cable networks and TV channels), bind to get the prior approval certificate from MCMC. He said that the failure to comply with the orders of the Supreme Court will amount to contempt of the court.

Rana Sodhi condoles demise of Jasdev Singh

Chandigarh: Punjab Sports Minister, Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi has expressed profound grief and shock over the demise of eminent sports commentator Jasdev Singh who passed away today at the age of 87.  Deeply condoling the demise of Jasdev Singh, Rana Sodhi recalled his association with the former when he (Rana Sodhi) participated in the 1978 Asian Games. The Minister said, Jasdev Singh regaled the people throughout the country with his flawless commentary in Olympics, Asian Games and World Cup. His commentary made him a household name at a time when television was just making its headway into the homes of the people. He was awarded Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. Sodhi prayed to the almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss.

Mata Sudiksha opens Nirankari youth symposium

Chandigarh: KK Kashyap, zonal incharge Chandigarh zone  informed that  Satguru Mata Sudiksha Maharaj inaugurated a 2-day symposium on the theme ‘The Six Elements’ – the Earth, the Fire, the Water, the Air, the Ether or Aakash and Consciousness (Chetna) in New Delhi. The symposium is being attended by thousands of Nirankari youth, both men and women from Delhi NCR. Several delegates have, however, come from Chandigarh and other places also.
