Auto carrying school kids meets with accident

Bhubaneswar: Around 10 schoolchildren had a narrow escape after an auto-rickshaw carrying them collided with another auto near Bharatpur in the Khandagiri area here on Tuesday morning. The children, students of a private school, sustained minor injuries and were admitted to hospital. The incident took place when the students were going to school. Angry over the incident, locals ransacked the auto and attempted to set it on fire. However, police reached the spot and pacified the locals.

DAV CSpur gets award in Clean E-BBSR meet 

Bhubaneswar: DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur Coordinator Indira Bhattacharya received an award on behalf of the school for involving the maximum number of students in the Clean E-Bhubaneswar project from Ambassador of European Union to India Tomasz Kozlowski at the Stakeholders’ Conference and Felicitation Ceremony on Tuesday. The project is a collaborative initiative between the International Finance Corporation and the Government of Odisha in which the BMC is the nodal entity.

Blossoms School observes Int’l Day of Peace 

Bhubaneswar: The Blossoms School here observed the International Day of Peace with a cultural exchange programme with students of ISZL, Geneva, Switzerland here recently. The celebration started with a peace prayer and peace chanting followed by a dance programme on peace by the secondary students of the school and aerobics by students of ISZL. Guests from ISZL praised the school for its academic and co-curricular activities. A peace workshop and food exchange programme were also held under the guidance of school founder-director Nadia Moghbelpour.

Bhubaneswar: DAV Public School, Pokhariput students are observing the Paryatan Parv (Dekho Apna Desh...) from September 16 to 27.

 Elderly man’s body fished from river

Khordha: An elderly man was found dead in the Rana river here. He was identified as Kailash Gumansingh (80) of Patnibar village in Begunia block. According to family members, Gumansingh had gone to his farmland for cultivation and did not return. Later the kin of Gumansingh and locals started searching. Panchayat ward member Madhusudan Bidhar after a frantic search in the river found the body of Gumansingh.
