Punjab CM undergoes minor surgery

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday underwent a minor surgery to remove a stone from his kidney. The surgery was successful and the Chief Minister is likely to be discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, a spokesman said. Doctors at PGIMER hospital, where the surgery was performed, said the stone had been troubling Captain Amarinder for some time and it was decided to remove it as early as possible. A simple procedure, lasting about 40 mins, was conducted on him this morning by a team of doctors. It was a minor procedure and the Chief Minister would be fit to be back at his normal functioning within a couple of days, they added. The spokesperson said Captain Amarinder was recovering well and was expected to resume work within a day or two.

Swasth Bharat Yatra to be held in Chd

Chandigarh: A meeting was held here at DC Office under Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh, regarding the Swasth Bharat Yatra to be held in the City Beautiful from December 26. Inspired by the Prime Minister’s vision of leveraging 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, various activities and movement have been planned.  Swasth Bharat Yatra, a pan India Cyclothon, is a key element of the Eat Right India movement.  150 ‘Volunteer-cyclists’ along with the ‘Eat Right Mobile Unit’ and ‘Mobile Food Testing Unit’ are travelling across the country over 100 plus days to engage citizens on issues of food safety, combating food adulteration and healthy diets.  The cyclothon will be flagged off from Sukhna Lake by Governor of Punjab and Administrator VP Singh Badnore.

Hry teams to participate in ‘Khelo India Youth Games’

Chandigarh: Haryana Transport Minister and President, Amateur Kabaddi Association of Haryana, Krishan Lal Panwar said that kabaddi teams of boys and girls (Under 19) of Haryana would participate in the ‘Khelo India Youth Games’ to be held at Pune in Maharashtra from January 9 to 20. The trials for selection to both categories would be held at Kabaddi Indoor Hall in village Badsham in district Panipat at 9 am on December 20. Panwar said that the players coming for trials would have to bring any two identity proofs in original alongwith one photocopy each out of Aadhaar Card, Passport, Matric Marksheet or Birth Certificate.

Chandigarh: Dr Rakesh Gupta, IAS from Haryana Government inaugurated the 4th National Workshop cum CME on Health Systems Strengthening at Department of Community Medicine an SPH, PGIMER. Giving examples from education sector, health sector and Antyodaya Saral, he demonstrated use of good quality data and usage by all stakeholders is backbone of governance to improve transparency, accountability, efficiency and consumer satisfaction.
