Teams formed to conduct raids on flour mills

Chandigarh: The alarming incident of addition of over 2000 quintals of rotten, foul smelling wheat to normal wheat for production of flour at a mill in Alamgir, Ludhiana forced the Food Safety Commisssionerate to take immediate steps to check the sale of flour ‘unfit for human consumption’, informed KS Pannu Commissioner Food and Drug Administration Punjab. He said, working out the availability of the manpower, 22 teams have been constituted and directed to check all the suspects. In two days, over a hundred flour mills have been inspected state wide and extensive sampling has been done. The results of the samples are awaited and the most stringent action prescribed under law would be taken against the adulterators. Simultaneously, the flour mill owners are being sensitized to procure good quality wheat from FCI, registered Arhtiyas or other trusted sources, he said.

Hry Govt issues directions

Chandigarh: Haryana Government has directed all the administrative secretaries that all nodal officers of the 47 blocks under Parivartan Scheme should visit at least one village in their block to ensure that the entire fresh and previously accumulated solid waste and gobar is collected and transported out of the abadi to any appropriate place in the village or a nearby town before October 2, 2018, with people’s participation. The photograph of this special campaign could be uploaded on the portal www.teamharyana.com , said a spokesman.

VB hands over day’s salary to CM for Kerala

Chandigarh: The officers and officials of Punjab State Vigilance Bureau have contributed to the Kerala flood relief efforts of the Punjab government in response to the personal appeal of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. The Bureau staff has contributed a day’s salary to help the people of the flood ravaged state, an official spokesperson said on Friday.  ADGP-cum-Chief Director Vigilance Bureau B K Uppal handed over a cheque of Rs 5 lakh to Captain Amarinder Singh at the latter's official residence this afternoon, said the spokesperson. The Chief Minister expressed his appreciation for the gesture, lauding the people of Punjab for coming out in large numbers to help Kerala and its people.

Veer Evm Shaheedi Diwas to be observed

Chandigarh: Haryana Government will observe September 23 as ‘Haryana Veer Evm Shaheedi Diwas’ in a befitting manner. A spokesman said that on this day, the martyrs would be paid tributes by organising public meetings, functions and seminars in each district of the state. Apart from this, family members of martyrs and recipient of bravery awards would also be honoured by presenting them mementos. The freedom fighters and Kargil war heroes would also be invited in the district level functions, he added.

ASI caught while accepting bribe

Chandigarh: Haryana  State Vigilance Bureau has caught ASI Devender Singh of Police Station, Dabua Colony (Faridabad) red handed while accepting illegal gratification of Rs 10,000. A spokesman of State Vigilance Bureau, Haryana said that ASI Devender Singh has been nabbed in a raid by the State Vigilance Bureau while accepting bribe from Vijay Kumar resident of Dabua Colony, district Faridabad in lieu of verbal complaint of Amit in the matter of his wife’s ornaments.

YMCA signs MoU with ICTACT

Chandigarh: J.C. Bose (erstwhile YMCA) University of Science and Technology, YMCA Faridabad, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Information and Communication Technology Academy of Tamil Nadu (ICTACT) to conduct training programmes for faculty and students which will also facilitate the placement of the students. Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dinesh Kumar said that as ICT is the backbone of technology and innovations and this partnership would benefit those faculty and students of the University who are using ICT as their core subjects. Further, it would also bridge the gap between industry and academia, thereby increasing employability of the students, he added.
