HP CM to flag off ‘Startup Yatra’ on Nov 15

Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will flag off Startup Yatra from Oak Over Shimla on November 15 at 10 am. The State Government, in collaboration with the Central Government’s Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, is organising the ‘Startup Yatra’ across the state to showcase giant strides made by ‘Startup India Scheme’ and CM’s Startup Scheme in the country and in the State. The Yatra will not only encourage the youth to nurture new startup idea but will also be organising Startup contest of selected ideas.

Ayush Univ to admit students in BAMS, BHMS

Chandigarh: Shri Krishna Ayush University, Kurukshetra, is providing admission opportunity to candidates of all categories, who were deprived of National Eligible Entry Examination (NEET), on the vacant seats of BAMS and BHMS courses for academic session 2018-19, in different colleges of the State. The registration and admission process of such candidates will be completed in the mop-up round to be held on November 15, said varsity Registrar Dr Krishan Jatian adding that the decision had been taken on the interim order of Punjab and Haryana High Court under which besides the NEET exam, other candidates would be also be considered eligible for admission in BAMS and BHMS courses.

Indian Overseas Bank hands over cheque

Chandigarh: Anand Bhandiwad, Chief Regional Manager- Chandigarh Region, Upma, Manager-Urban Estate Patiala branch along with officials of Universal Sompo General Insurance handed over a cheque of Rs.10 lacs to the wife of late Arvind Kumar who died in a road accident. Kumar, 31 years old, availed IOB Suraksha policy, an accidental death insurance policy by paying just Rs.100 from Indian Overseas Bank Urban Estate Patiala branch where he was maintaining his Savings Bank account.

NGOs urge govt to save children on roads accident

Chandigarh: Committed towards the safety towards children, the Consumer Voice has urged the Government to save children on road accidents by passing the Motor Vehicle Amendment Bill-2017. “More than 9,000 children died in road casualties in India comprising 6.4 percent of all road users who died in road casualties. Unfortunately, these figures are increasing every year. If this road safety bill is further deferred, we will be putting at risk more precious lives before the next session of the Parliament can adopt it,” said Ashim Sanyal of Consumer Voice.

146 LMT paddy procured in Punjab

Chandigarh: The Government agencies and private millers have procured 146,61,955 metric tonnes of paddy in Punjab till November 12. Out of the total procurement from various procurement centres in the State, the Government agencies procured 145,72,206 MT while 89,749 MT has been procured by the millers. Central Government agency, Food Corporation of India (FCI) has procured 2,23,970 MT paddy.
