896357 MT paddy procured

Chandigarh: The government agencies and private millers have procured 896357 metric tonnes of Paddy in Punjab till October 13. A spokesman informed that out of the total procurement from various procurement centres in the state, the government agencies procured 867451 MT of paddy while 28906 MT has been procured by the millers. PUNGRAIN had procured 269667 tonnes, MARKFED 224536 tonnes and PUNSUP procured 181925 tonnes while Punjab State Warehousing Corporation and Punjab Agro Foodgrains Corporation procured 83556 and 95838 MT paddy respectively. The Centre government agency FCI has procured 11929 MT paddy.

GMCH to award for services in research

Chandigarh: Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector-32 here will observe its first Research Day on October 15, which happens to be the birthday of former President of India and Researcher of par Excellence Late APJ Abdul Kalam. VP Singh Badnore Governor Punjab & UT Administrator, will be the chief guest for the inaugural function of first annual research day of GMCH-32. The Administrator will also inaugurate Multidisciplinary Research Unit (MDRU) on the same day. MDRU has been set-up in GMCH with the financial assistance from Dept of Health Research (DHR), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Swami Smaranananda Giri addresses people

Chandigarh: Swami Smaranananda Giri General Secretary of the Yogoda Satsanga Society of India, YSS, addressed a large gathering at the Tagore Theatre here on the topic “Winning the Battle of Life Through Meditation”. Swami Giri emphasized the need for every individual, however much busy he or she may be, to take out time each day for meditation. There is no other way to combat the stresses and tensions of life that are a part and parcel of every person’s life in this era, he said. Daily practice of meditation techniques can go a long way in ensuring inner peace and calmness, despite all obstacles in one’s path, advised Swami Giri. A large number of eminent persons, young and old, of the tri-city attended the talk and some of them stayed back to receive basic guidelines on meditation techniques from Swami Giri.

Workshop on teaching reading skills on Oct 17

Chandigarh: British Council will conduct a workshop on teaching reading skills exclusively designed for IELTS trainers on October 17. The aim of the session is to equip IELTS trainers with effective methods, resources, practical ideas and activities that they can implement in their classrooms, and to direct them towards IELTS resources available at British Council. The workshops have been developed and certified by the British Council. The workshop will be organized on October 17 from 12 noon to 3 PM at 178 A, Elante Office Block here.

Valuers Association against MCA

Chandigarh: Valuers Association is against the arbitrary clauses in Companies (Registered Valuers & Valuation Rules) 2017 as notified by Ministry of Corporate Affairs without considering the objections sent by thousands of stake holders. Er. Kapil Arora, General Secretary, said new rules will lead to corruption & unethical practices resulting more NPAs. Since 2007 as per Act of Parliament, it is mandatory for all banks to get valuation from Valuers Approved. Unfortunately, the banks have empanelled fake/invalid degree holders as well as ineligible persons as valuers. Instead of sorting out this issue, the valuers are being forced to become member of Private Organisations and do course of 50 hours being conducted by them which clearly going against the directions of Supreme Court and UGC Act, he said.

SBI Home Loan Centre opened at Zirakpur

Chandigarh: SBI Home Loan Centre opened at VIP road Zirakpur will cater to the house loan needs of the customers of Zirakpur, Derabassi , Mohali and nearby areas. Thiscentre has been opened  in view of the increasing demand of the builders and customers of this area. This will save considerable amount of  time of the customers and all their home loan related needs will be taken care of under one roof, said CGM,  Rana Aushutosh Kumar Singh after inaugurating the centre. He apprised customers the various new initiatives started by the bank for different strata of the society.

Dandiya Dhamaal 2018 in Omaxe

New Chandigarh: Dandiya performance by a renowned troupe from Gujarat was amongst the major attractions that enthralled thousands who had gathered in Omaxe New Chandigarh for the annual Dandiya Dhamaal Mahotsav in Omaxe New Chandigarh held during October 12-14. Omaxe celebrates Dandiya Dhamaal Mahotsav every year as part of its endeavour to bring the community together on this festive occasion in its township spread across hundreds of acres.

GHD to be celebrated

Chandigarh: With a view of adopting certain hygienic practices, Shri Krishna AYUSH University, Kurukshetra will celebrate Global Handwashing Day (GHD) on October 15 under ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ campaign in which the Professors, staff and students of the university will also participate.    The event would be organised in the university premises on the directions of the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Baldev Kumar. On this occasion, the employees and students would be made aware about correct hand-washing procedures and its benefits. Besides this, Swachhta Pakhwada would also be orgainised under Swachh Bharat Mission from October 16 to 30 in the university campus.
