The dream of hundreds of students, who aspire to enter the world of hospitality and toursim, will soon come true as the Delhi Government has decided to convert the Delhi Institute of Hotel Management (DIHM) into a full- fledged varisty to provide multiple options to a large section of students.
The decision was announced recently by the Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia during his recent visit to the DIHM. Also, as per the information, Sisodia has also directed the department to take immediate action after witnessing the poor condition and infrastructure of the college building.
"The building structure needs repair on urgent basis. A portion of the building seems to be dangerous. Chief Engineer, DTTDC to make an assessment and draw an estimate at the earliest. This should be given top priority to avoid any unforeseen accident," said the city Deputy CM.
Further as per the information shared by the Delhi Government, the institute’s only source of revenue is generated through the fees paid by the students."The expenses are little more than the revenue. Pr. Secretary (Tourism) may draw a proposal for special grant to the institution of the DIHM to get them out of this financial problem. The faculty has not accorded 7th Pay Commission Scales as well as some past arrears," Sisodia added further.
Moreover, witnessing all the problems and issues faced by the institute, faculty and students, Sisodia has also called for an immediate meeting of the Board of the institute at the earliest to discuss and solve the problems.
