Three members of an inter-State gang were nabbed by the Jaspur police with Rs 94,000 in counterfeit notes. The police in Udham Singh Nagar district acted on a tip off against the members of the gang said to be involved in introducing counterfeit currency in Indian markets.
The district’s Additional Superintendent of Police Jagdish Chandra informed that the police arrested the trio red handed when they were trying to use counterfeit currency in a liquor shop. A total of 47 counterfeit notes of Rs 2,000 denomination were seized from the three accused.
He, further, informed that the gang in question is known to make counterfeit currency in Bihar and West Bengal and then introduce the same in bazaars.
The three accused arrested by the police have been identified as Kashipur resident Vikram, Sikandar Sahni from Bihar and Manish Vidhyasagar from Uttar Pradesh.
